February
February 20th, 2010Well this January could have been a disastrous month with the worst snow we’ve seen in this area for upwards of 30 years effectively paralyzing the roads and general infrastructure. Thankfully it has proven to be a much better month than predicted. At Hamlyn Sparks we have seen a significant increase in enquiries during the month, with many potential purchasers requesting viewings and indeed offering on a number of properties. As I stated in my December newsletter, if you are thinking about selling this year now is a good time to start the process. Looking at the recent Land Registry house price index (www.landregistry.gov.uk) the encouraging sign is that prices have increased from their low in early 2009 and though are well down from the high of mid 2007 theĀ recovery seems well underway. To a degree the prices are influenced by the reduced levels of housing stock readily available in the current market so consequently, when a new property is put up for sale buyers are keen to secure it at a fair price.
